I am shopping for a wig. What can I expect when I arrive?
Mary Lou's Garden carries a large selection of synthetic wigs and we will order human hair wigs to your specifications if desired. When you arrive, we will discuss your options, style, and color preferences. You will be able to try on many wigs in order to find the correct fit and style. If you are unable to find the color or style you desire from our stock, we will look at color rings and catalogs to find the perfect look for you. Usually we can get the wig from the manufacturer in 2-5 days, and we can overnight it if necessary.

I have recently had breast surgery. What products will I need?
We offer many different products depending on the type of surgery you have had. If you had a lumpectomy or portion of your breast removed, a silicone partial works great to smooth out and create more symmetry. If you have had a mastectomy, we carry post surgery camisoles for immediately after surgery until your doctor tells you are ready to be fitted for a breast prosthesis and mastectomy bra. The post surgery camisoles have pouches for drains and special pockets to accommodate a light weight post surgery breast form. We also carry camisoles, pajamas, and loungewear that are specially made to be worn with breast prosthesis.

I have an appointment for my first fitting for a bra and prosthesis. What can I expect?
When you arrive, we will discuss the type of surgery you have had as well as your lifestyle and activities to help decide what breast form is best for you. You will be measured by our certified personnel. We will then assist you in trying on breast forms and bras in your size to help you find the perfect fit and style. We carry a large selection of different breast forms and bras in many styles and colors. If it is your first fitting your appointment will take approximately 45 minutes to an hour.

Will my insurance cover these products?
In most cases, yes. We will be happy to contact your insurance carrier to determine what benefits you are eligible for. We can assist you if necessary in filing your claim.

I have Medicare coverage; can I get my prosthetic for little or no cost?
We will gladly file your Medicare Insurance Claim for each order of post-breast surgery products you place with us.

What post-mastectomy/post-lumpectomy products does Medicare cover?
Silicone breast forms, foam breast forms, mastectomy bras, and post-surgical camisoles.

How many mastectomy & lumpectomy items per year does Medicare cover?
Medicare covers one silicone breast form every two years. If you have had a bilateral mastectomy Medicare covers one for each side every two years. One or two foam forms every six months, and two to four mastectomy bras per year.

What information do you need from me to file my Medicare Claims?
You will need to sign a form that lists the required information and Medicare Supplier Standards as required by Medicare. You will be required to write down your Medicare Number and Letter which can be found on your Red, White and Blue card and fill in your date of birth and sign the form. You will need to supply us with a doctor's prescription for Surgical Bras and/or Breast Forms. The doctor's prescription must include 1) the side of surgery, 2) diagnosis code, 3) the doctor's UPIN#, and 4) the words "medically necessary". Your doctor's office is probably familiar with all of this information. A doctor's appointment is not necessary to obtain this prescription or information. All of this information should be in your chart, and you can request a prescription over the phone.

How much will Medicare pay for my breast forms and bras?
Medicare will pay up to 80% of what they call the allowable. You can check with your local Medicare Carrier regarding allowable amounts. For more information, call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227).
